The ICASE Nominating Committee encourages all Unified members to seriously consider being a nominee for President-Elect or Secretary of ICASE. Anyone who would like to be considered must complete the attached questions/vitae. Submit the completed form to Pam Bell, Nominating Committee Chair prior to December 1, 2022.

Once the form and materials have been received, the nominating committee will convene to review all information and recommend a slate of officer candidates to the ICASE Executive Committee.

Criteria for Consideration:

  • Currently a practicing Special Education Administrator licensed in Indiana

  • Currently an active Unified Member of ICASE

  • Demonstrates leadership qualities within his/her planning district and within ICASE  

  • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents, organizations, etc.

  • Has the support of his/her Roundtable

  • Has the support of his/her employer

Descriptions of open positions:

The President-Elect assists the President in addressing the mission and goals of the corporation, serves in the absence of both the President and Immediate Past President.  Other duties as outlined in the ICASE Executive Committee Policy & Procedure Handbook.

Since the President-Elect moves into the role of President, the following is the description of the role of President.

The President shall convene regularly scheduled board meetings, shall preside or arrange for other members of the Executive Committee or arrange for other members of the Executive Committee to preside at each meeting.  The President duties include:

  • Serves as the public voice of the corporation or assign a designee,

  • Collaborates with state agencies and other state associations,

  • Attends CASE BOD meetings,

  • Appoints Executive Standing Committee Chairs (Governmental Affairs, Nominating, Membership, Professional Development, Fiscal Management, Communications) from the cabinet as well as task force chairpersons for approval by the Executive Council,

  • Appoints representatives or liaisons to statewide committees or other professional organizations,

  •  Approves the docket upon the recommendation of the Executive Committee

  •  Other duties as outlined in the ICASE Executive Committee Policy & Procedure Handbook.

The Secretary plays an important role in maintaining the record of actions of ICASE.

  • Serves in the absence of the President, Immediate Past President, and President-Elect

  • Records minutes of all meetings of the full membership and the Executive Board

  • Maintains the archives; serves as historian

  • Serves as parliamentarian.

  • Adds monthly summary of ICASE activities into CASE annual report draft document

  • Mentors incoming secretary.         

  • Maintain history of Bylaws and Policy & Procedures Manual

  • Designates a substitute recorder if absent from a required meeting

  • In conjunction with the association management team, maintains an official membership database
