    Needed: Proposed Start Date: July 16, 2024

    Position Description:

    Assist with:

    · All aspects of services provided through Logansport Special Services including but not limited to planning, organizing, administering, coordinating, and evaluating all phases of the special education program.

    · Supervision and evaluation of Logansport Special Services staff.

    · Monitoring program adherence and compliance with State and Federal statues, rules, and regulations along with high quality special education services.

    · Monitoring of the completion and implementation of IEPs and Service Plans.

    · Collaborating with building personnel in implementing and improving special education services.

    · Any mediation, due process, and complaint issues, as needed.

    · Participating in case conferences and Manifestation Determination conferences as directed.

    · The planning and provision of ongoing, systematic training and professional development opportunities for Logansport Community School Corporation staff, school personnel, and parents/guardians.

    · Other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Special Education.

    · Contract will be 215 Days

    Job Requirements:

    1. Solid foundational knowledge of special education laws, policies, resources, funding, characteristics of learners, instructional strategies and planning, assessment and accountability systems, and collaborative and consultative approaches to support individuals with exceptional needs and their families.

    2. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely both in written and oral form.

    3. Possess the ability to accurately collect, report, and interpret data.

    4. Effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills.

    5. Strong organizational skills

    6. Upon offer, applicant must complete and clear drug screen and expanded criminal history background check for school personnel as required by IN state law.

    Job Qualifications:

    1. Valid Indiana Director of Exceptional Needs licensure or willingness to obtain licensure

    2. Current Indiana Special Education Licensure preferred and a minimum of five years of classroom experience.

    Position Description: 

    REQUIREMENTS:

    · Previous experience in teaching and school administration

    · Master’s degree or advanced degree with a major in education administration

    · Hold or plan to receive a Director of Special Services license

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Exhibits collaborative and achievement oriented leadership.

    · Ability to interview and recommend personnel; supervise and evaluate staff, coordinate work assignments, and problem solve difficult staffing situations.

    · Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities to meet deadlines under time constraints.

    · Assures that special education programs and exceptional learning services are designed to meet the individual needs of those students who have been identified as needing such services, including students with disabilities encompassed under Indiana Article 7, Section 504 of the Vocational and Rehabilitation Act of 1972, high ability, and students speaking a second language.

    · Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education, and local board policy.

    · Manage the special education referral process; arrange for or conduct student assessments; make recommendations regarding placement and program management for individual students.

    · Prepare and file necessary reports.

    · Write grants

    · Ability to understand special education funding and administer the special education budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.

    · Review on a regular basis the existing programs and services and formulate needed recommendations for improvement and expansion.

    · Maintain positive public relations and act as a liaison within the community.

    · Develop collaborative relationships with school corporation personnel, families, community members, and educational stakeholders.

    · Provide in-service training for personnel.

    · Purchase supplies and materials.

    · Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommend the replacement and disposal of equipment when necessary.

    · Be a resource for general education staff.

    · Meet regularly with special education staff.

    · Evaluate, coach, and provide on-going feedback on employees’ job performance.

    · Consult with staff regarding accommodations and modifications.

    · Serve as public agency representative when appropriate.

    · Implement other duties and responsibilities necessary for the efficient operation of the Alexandria Community Schools Exceptions Students programs.
